Built by a building cleaner
I started because I had nothing left to lose
I am a trained glass and building cleaner and worked in the trade before I was drafted into the German army. Getting back in afterwards was hard. The companies I worked for paid below skilled-worker level — there was no minimum wage back then — and calculated working times that were almost impossible to meet. Almost no matter how much you worked, you ended up topping up your wages with state benefits.
In 2010 I told myself: I want to feed a family one day, and this is not going to work. I bought buckets, a washer and a squeegee and started. No business knowledge, no idea what was coming.
It did not go well from the start, and I often wondered whether it still made sense. In the end it was not advertising and not a portal that turned things around, but a customer who told everyone about me at exactly that time. After that the phone did not stop ringing.
My jobs never came through classified ads or referral portals. They came through word of mouth — and because I kept going. If the quality is right, it wins in the end.

Why this portal exists
So that others do not make the same mistakes
What I see in the existing portals are business ideas from people who know nothing about cleaning. The company is told it is free. So is the customer. And then there is a 30 to 40 per cent mark-up in between, because someone puts themselves between you and your customer. Neither the company nor the customer gains anything from that.
Every year people start out in this trade and face the same questions I did. I see no reason to let them make the same mistakes. That is why this portal exists — and that is why I earn nothing from your jobs.

What makes this portal different from other referral platforms?
Most platforms were built by marketing people. This one was built by a building cleaner who had the problem himself.
Does Privadi become my customer's contracting party?
No. We only pass on the contact. The service contract is concluded directly between you and the customer.
Can I really go wrong with five euros?
Probably only if you spend 500 euros a month on advertising that brings nothing at the same time.
Why Privadi instead of a “free” referral platform?
Because we tell you openly how we earn our money — and free is almost never free. With other providers you pay indirectly through a margin on every job, often without knowing how high it is.
What happens to my documents?
They are stored outside the public area and are only accessible for the check. The copy of your ID is kept until the end of your membership and for three years after that.
